SCHORR - CHARLES "Chuck"
November 26, 2017, at age 76. Beloved husband of 28 years to Moira (nee Gallagher) Schorr; devoted father of Craig (Sueann) Schorr, Jacqueline Schorr, Molly (Bob) Costello Culver, Brendan (Codie), Kevin (Heather) and Sean (Jessica) Costello; loving grandfather of Katie, Anna, CJ Schorr, Lauren (Nick) Yager, Teagan, Keira, Walker and Adelaide Costello; dear brother of Marilyn (Steve) Feldheim. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at The Meeting House, 5658 Main St., Williamsville, NY 14221. Charles "Chuck" Schorr, a scientist and engineer, died Nov. 26 in Canterbury Woods, Williamsville, from complications of brain cancer. He was 76.

Mr. Schorr was born in Baltimore and moved to the Buffalo area in 1966. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He earned a master's of science degree in engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Before beginning a long career at the UOP petroleum company in Tonawanda, Mr. Schorr worked at Bell Aerospace in Niagara Falls and at Aerojet General as a Titan II rocket gas flow expert. He designed gas flow nozzles for Apollo and Gemini spacecraft and hydrogen pressure systems for ICBM systems, and was the author of a seminal paper on nozzle design published in 1970 for the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets.

Mr. Schorr started working at UOP in 1977 and rose to be senior operations manager before his retirement in 2002.

Mr. Schorr excelled in areas beyond his chosen profession. He was a certified PSIA Level 2 ski instructor and a Ruby Life Master bridge player. He also was a member of the John Newman Mission Community and volunteered with Literacy Volunteers and worked in retirement at the public libraries in Amherst. .

He enjoyed traveling the world, was an avid skier and loved the outdoors.

Mr. Schorr is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Moira Gallagher; his sons, Craig Schorr, Sean Costello, Brendan Costello and Kevin Costello; two daughters, Jacqueline Schorr and Molly Costello Culver; one sister, Marilyn Feldheim; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Meeting House, 5658 Main St., Williamsville.
