Frank C. Baginski, of Williamsville, a superintendent at the DuPont Yerkes plant in the Town of Tonawanda, died July 3 in Elderwood at Williamsville after a short illness. He was 95.

Born in Holyoke, Mass., he served as an ensign in the Navy during World War II aboard a destroyer auxiliary vessel. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he played soccer, basketball and ran on the track team, and completed his doctorate in chemical engineering at Yale University.

Mr. Baginski had a 32-year career at DuPont and, after moving to Buffalo in 1968, was superintendent of Tedlar and business services at the Yerkes plant for 16 years. He retired in 1984.

He enjoyed fly fishing, golf, ice skating and hiking. He was a downhill skier until he was 78.

He followed the news and weather closely and was a discussion group leader at the Amherst Senior Center for many years.

His wife of 49 years, the former Mary Sue Berndt, died in 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Rasmussen and Lisa Mapel; three sons, Paul, David and Bruce; a sister, Irene Dearden; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
